After becoming a little disgruntled with the lack of response from Teknon Media, I moved my site to Fused Network. It had great reviews from several sites. Fused Network is owned and operated by David McKendrick, who, at the time seemed to be running the entire operation himself- sales, support... everything. My site move was painless and quick and all my data was intact after the move.
I really like Fused at first. They put a lot of work into offering a nicely customized cPanel and the support was outstanding. One thing I really liked about this web host was the speed of my site; really fast page loads.
I liked Fused enough that I wanted to join their affiliate program to see if I could earn a little extra cash from it and was pleased to see that they offered one, only, this affiliate program has a twist. They call it Fused Together and rather than pay out direct commissions to affiliates, they let the affiliate choose from a list of charities to send that commission to. Now, I'm a big believer in being charitable and believe that people in general are very charitable toward one another. What annoys me is when someone seems to take the opposite attitude and seem to think that people won't be charitable without being directed and/or forced into giving. I'm not knocking the idea of the Fused affiliate program, just the holier-than-thou attitude that seemed to come from it. As though somehow, people aren't capable of charity without some big brother type making sure they are charitable. Again, I believe in charity and believe that we are as a whole naturally charitable, I just don't like anyone dictating to me how and where to be charitable. Personal opinion and you'll have your own about it. Aside from all that, the affiliate program was very poorly implemented and the earned commissions were never accurate, however, that may have changed since I was with them.
There was a lot to like about Fused and it comes with all the bells and whistles that any host should have, more on that in a minute. I also, in the few years I hosted with them, never had any major downtime. If I did, I was usually warned first. David was always very good about communicating with customers. However, I wasn't impressed with the stingy(for the price) 1Gig of web space and was constantly worried about reaching that limit as my site grew. In fact, as time went on and I could see that I was about to reach that limit, I began searching for a new host; mainly for the pricing issue. Fused is a bit expensive for what you get, especially when you compare it to some of the other major hosts. Where other hosts allow several add-on domains per account, Fused charges an additional $12.95 yearly, and if you want to upgrade to more disk space and higher monthly transfer, they bump the price to $29.95/mo which is outrageous for a shared hosting package.
Aside from that, I had begun to want to really get a good portfolio of affiliate programs going because I was becoming serious about making money online. Fused Network fell way short in that area and that coupled with the over-priced and stingy space, monthly transfer and add-on domain cost made me finally leave for another web host.
